boat drinks

…”Waitress I need two more boat drinks.”
Listening to Jimmy Buffett, nephew of Warren Buffett, the famous stock investor.
Well, the morning has finally settled down.  Everybody’s off to wherever they’re supposed to be off to…  And, I’m here pushing keys on what used to be called a typewriter.  I’m baked, finally.  Just representin’…  Had a couple [...]

hen with claws?

Posted on September 19, 2007. Filed under: financial babble, medium ramble |

Nope.  Menopause.
That’s what wifeybot has said is going on…
An unexpected realization by her,…(I guess she looked it up on-line.)
Phew!
Global credit crunch resolved…
…aka…Sir Real’s brain & the world at large were given a breather.
And, a realization from my better half? That was gravy, yesterday.
Yep. A two-fer in the same day.
Still somehow managed to lose 30 bucks [...]

the world gets a mulligan….

…IMHO, … with the first interest rate cut in 4 years in the U.S.
Half a percent. To 4.75%.
The first cut in over 4 years.
Now we just need more people to realize it’s an expanding Universe.
But, also,…
… we need honest, transparent  government regulation within the financial markets worldwide,
as we unravel and sort out this financial derivative [...]

bated breath & Seth

Posted on September 18, 2007. Filed under: financial babble, the long ramble |

Well, it would appear all people involved with the financial community around the world, as well as business owners, etc… and possibly many others … are anxiously awaiting Ben Bernanke taking the podium.  This is the Federal Reserve chairman’s first big test since taking office,…and it’s pretty big.  Will stock and/or bond markets get hammered?  [...]

trickier than a turd in a briefcase?

Posted on September 17, 2007. Filed under: financial babble, the long ramble |

Tomorrow (Tuesday) 2 p.m. New York time…. 11 a.m., Tucson time. (should be an interesting moment) On CNBC.
It’ll be the first Fed cut of interest rates in years.  They’re forced to because a bunch of  Americans got swindled, & then a whole bunch of so-called smart finance guys around the world got swindled into buying junk [...]

Am I just spinnin’ my own wheels?

Posted on September 14, 2007. Filed under: financial babble, political tomfoolery, the long ramble |

…and I don’t mean like the cool spinnin’ rims on “Cribs” and “Pimp My Ride.”
As I speak in metaphor, mine are sort of squeaking; and only perhaps 3 of the 4 are spinning in the same direction.
Anyway.
My kids are home today in solidarity with a city-wide Tucson teachers’ strike
(aka “sick out”,…or whatever one might call it.)
Over [...]

i think it’s finally dawned on me

Posted on September 10, 2007. Filed under: financial babble, medium ramble, political tomfoolery |

…that there is a certain element of precariousness to me, that has probably saved my life via outbursts I’ve made upon realizing that all nearby lines were being drawn around me, without my having an opportunity to draw any lines (aka boundaries) for myself. Where the world defines you, and then based on who the [...]

okay, so let’s see…

Posted on September 1, 2007. Filed under: financial babble, medium ramble |

…How’m I gonna have myself a good day?  It’s a Saturday.  Looking after the homefront & lifeforms within it today.  My better half is working all day.
It’s occurred to me that half the battle is over.  (The kids are back in school.)
The other half of the battle is me being down.  More than anything else [...]

Lehman’s down today, so…

Posted on August 20, 2007. Filed under: financial babble, medium ramble |

I probably shouldn’t have sold my Lehman put option on Friday.  At one point, (a day earlier) I was up by a hundred bucks, but then fucked that up and was barely up when I sold it.  Woulda been nice to have known in advance that the Fed would cut the discount rate to banks [...]

it’d be nice to have a good day

Posted on August 18, 2007. Filed under: financial babble, the long ramble |

…you’d think all the studying I’ve done about how to manage my thoughts, etc,…would have led me to some sort of progress.  I almost had a good, smooth day…the day before yesterday,…except I think part of it was delusional because I was so probably noticeably wasted.  Not sure.   Well, I tried to post some positive [...]
